Recipe Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil, plus more for garnish
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, halved
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes, kept cold
- Vanilla bean ice cream, for serving
Recipe Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Pour melted butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Mix flour, sugar, basil, baking powder and salt together in large bowl. Add milk and mix together until a thick batter forms.
- Pour batter evenly over butter in prepared baking dish. Top with an even layer of strawberries. Top strawberries evenly with cream cheese cubes. Bake until top is golden-brown and edges are bubbling, about 30 to 45 minutes. Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 10 minutes. Garnish with additional basil and serve with ice cream.
