Recipe Ingredients

  • ¾ pound penne pasta
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, diced small
  • ½ yellow onion, diced small
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup half & half
  • 1/3 cup shredded parmesan, plus extra for serving
  • 1 cup peas, frozen

Recipe Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the pasta cook according to package directions. Add the peas to the cooking pasta when there’s one minute left of cooking.
  2. Put bacon in a large skillet or pan over medium heat, and cook until about halfway done, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the onion and continue cooking until the bacon is done and the onion has softened and is beginning to color.
  4. Put in the butter & red pepper flakes – stir until the butter has melted.
  5. Add the half and half and let simmer for a couple minutes to thicken, then stir in the parmesan. Remember to add the peas if you haven’t.
  6. Drain the pasta and peas, and add to the pan, mixing well to coat everything – add a little pasta water if you want it thinner.
  7. Plate and serve with extra parmesan on top
