Recipe Ingredients
- All-purpose flour, for dusting
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup freeze-dried strawberries
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, room temperature
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream, kept cold
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 pint strawberries, hulled and cut into 1/4-inch slices
Recipe Directions
- Preheat oven to 425°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, cut puff pastry into 6 hearts, using a 4-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter. Place hearts evenly on prepared baking sheet. Bake until hearts are puffed and light golden-brown, about 9 to 10 minutes. Allow to cool completely at room temperature.
- Meanwhile, combine powdered sugar and freeze-dried strawberries in a blender or food processor. Blend until mixture turns into a fine powder. Set aside for dusting hearts.
- Beat cream cheese and sugar together, using an electric hand mixer in large bowl, until smooth. Add cream and vanilla, and beat until stiff peaks form, about 1 minute. Transfer whipped cream mixture to a piping bag fi tted with a large star tip.
- Split hearts in half using a serrated knife. Pipe whipped cream mixture evenly onto bottom halves of hearts. Top decoratively with strawberry slices, and tops of hearts. Dust with powdered sugar mixture, and serve.
