Recipe Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour, for dusting
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup freeze-dried strawberries
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream, kept cold
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pint strawberries, hulled and cut into 1/4-inch slices

Recipe Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, cut puff pastry into 6 hearts, using a 4-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter. Place hearts evenly on prepared baking sheet. Bake until hearts are puffed and light golden-brown, about 9 to 10 minutes. Allow to cool completely at room temperature.
  2. Meanwhile, combine powdered sugar and freeze-dried strawberries in a blender or food processor. Blend until mixture turns into a fine powder. Set aside for dusting hearts.
  3. Beat cream cheese and sugar together, using an electric hand mixer in large bowl, until smooth. Add cream and vanilla, and beat until stiff peaks form, about 1 minute. Transfer whipped cream mixture to a piping bag fi tted with a large star tip.
  4. Split hearts in half using a serrated knife. Pipe whipped cream mixture evenly onto bottom halves of hearts. Top decoratively with strawberry slices, and tops of hearts. Dust with powdered sugar mixture, and serve.
